Showcase is a trade show that features 350 of the country’s leading designers, manufacturers and craftspeople exhibiting unique, design-led fashion and knitwear, jewellery, craft, gift and interiors. The show runs until the 25th of January. I’ll be at stand A265, if you’re visiting drop by and say hello!
It’s a new year and I’ve been working hard over the past few weeks on different projects and coming up with some new jewellery for 2012. The first piece off the bench is this silver link necklace, commissioned by some very proud parents as a graduation present for their daughter. I have some more exciting commissions in progress and I’m working on some new jewellery to launch at Showcase where I’ll be exhibiting later this month. Watch this space….
I’ve just finished work for the Christmas season and am looking forward to all of the festivities and to give my hands a well deserved rest! Happy Christmas, and to all those I have made special gifts for I hope you enjoy them!
Read MoreI am very excited about becoming a seller on the new Irish online gift shop The Design Basket. The website is the creation of Sarah Jane Lynch and is based in Co Louth. Sarah Jane wanted to create a place where people can go to buy a unique and special product that comes from local Irish designers. The Design Basket launched just a few weeks ago and is enjoying great success already. They have recently been featured in RTE television’s Local Heroes programme, you can watch it here on the RTE player. I’m delighted to be part of the site and rubbing shoulders with some of Ireland’s best designers. I have my eye on a few things for my Christmas list…. You can visit my profile on the site here.
Read MoreWinter has set in and it’s cold and dark but this season I’m going to go festive instead of wintry with my special edition jewellery! I love colour so I recently bought some perspex sheets and started experimenting with it. I came up with these bangles, they’re made from two sheets of perspex (one transparent and one opaque) riveted together with silver. The rivet allows you to move around the two pieces of perspex and play with how you wear the bangle. I’ve made a mixture of circle and square bangles in red, green, orange and blue and are priced at €30 each or €50 for a pair.

I have just delivered a collection of my jewellery to The Leitrim Design House in Carrick-on-Shannon. Leitrim Design House is a not-for-profit organisation committed to supporting the development and success of designer/makers and artists working in the creative sector. They have a shop in the Dock Arts Centre where they sell contemporary Irish made products. I have supplied them with a range of cufflinks, brooches and earrings. You can call in and visit the shop here if you are around the Carrick-on-Shannon area.
I was recently commissioned to design and make a ring for a newly engaged couple. They brought me a beautiful, flawless, brilliant cut diamond and asked me to make something unique for them. This is what we came up with, a yellow gold band with a platinum channel that holds the diamond in a tension setting. It has a polished band with a matte finish on the platinum. I really love how the ring worked out, and it sparkles beautifully on the bride-to-be’s finger! Congratulations to them both, long may they enjoy the ring. It was a pleasure to make!
